I think I’ve mentioned before how obsessed my Mother is with Halloween. She puts up this Haunted Castle in front of her porch each year with fun figures that talk to you and cackle as you walk by. She even has a smoke machine that fills up her front lawn! And although she lives at the end of a culti-sac, every one comes to her house for her Extra Large King Size Candy Bars. Kids come from all over just to get one of them! It is totally awesome!
I called up my Mom to see how much she usually spends on the King Size Candy Bars and she said $1.00 is what she will usually purchase them at. So, once I saw the Rite Aid ad for this week– I thought it was time to take her coupon shopping and show her what it was all about!
This week, Rite Aid has their XL Candy Bars for only $.99! (These are bigger than the regular King Size Bars) And, when you spend $15, you get a $5.00 Up+ Rewards back. So this is what we did.
Transaction #1:
Purchase 26 XL Candy Bars for $.99 Each
Used the $5 off $25 Rite Aid Coupon
Paid $20.74, But we got a $5.00 Up+ Reward to use on the next transaction
Transaction #2:
Purchased 26 Xl Candy Bars for $.99 Each
Used the $5 off $25 Rite Aid Coupon
Used the $5.00 Up+ Reward from the last transaction
Paid $15.74, and got another $5.00 Up+ Reward to use on the next transaction.
We repeated Transaction #2 multiple times until my Mom had purchased all of her Candy Bars. Rite Aid was fully stocked and actually had more of them in the back!
These XL Candy Bars usually cost $1.99 each. But by using the deals above, we ended up getting them for only $.60 each!! She saved over $338!! My Mom was so excited and I was so proud of her for saving so much money!! Go Mom!
**On a side note, I went to the Sandy, Utah Rite Aid store off of Highland Drive. Can I just say that they are just amazing?? I have never had people so willing and happy to help you out! I will go back to Rite Aid, even though it is a 30 minute drive just because of that. I know I will never have couponing problems!
Most of us don’t do the whole King Size Candy Bar thing for Halloween. So this is what I did while I was there:
Purchased 10 Bags of Skittles Fun Size Candy for $2.50 Each
Purchased 4 Kit Kat Fun Size Candy for $2.50 Each
Purchased 6 Reese’s Fun Size Candy for $2.50 Each
Total before coupons: $50.00
Then, use 5 of the $1.00 off 2 Skittles Coupons from the 10-10-10 RP
Use 3 of the $1.00 off 2 Reese’s Coupons 10-17-10 SS
Use 2 of the $1.00 off 2 Kit Kat Coupons 10-17-10 SS
And, use the $5.00 off $25 Rite Aid Coupon
Also use the $1.00 off RAV Coupon
You pay $35.00, but you get $10 Back in UP+Rewards.
Total cost $25.00 for $50 worth of Candy!!
**I actually used $4.00 worth of UP+ Rewards from last week’s purchases on this transaction as well.
After all was said and done, I actually ended up paying $1.05 per Candy bag!! Now that’s a deal!

Glad you had a good Rite Aid experience Melea! I love their deals! Never knew what I was missing out on before I coupon shopped! I love all the freebies or close to freebies that I get there!

How fun to go with your Mom! It's fun to see new coupon users saving money! I agree- I LOVE the Sandy Rite Aid- super nice- (and there are not many coupon shoppers in Sandy- the shelves are always stocked!)

Thanks for letting us know about this! I am the only mom in my neighborhood (that I know of) who gives out the King Size – Extra Large candy bars. And since we don't have many trick-or-treaters (we live in an old neighborhood), I usually only buy about 30-40 bars.I am so stocking up this week for Halloween!

Given that there's nothing I can do to prevent my wife's love affair with Halloween, can I just say how cool it is to have Melea help her mom (my wife) save TONS on BIG candy bars for trick-or-treaters this year!!! Thanks, Melea!
