Back to Basics: What do I do if my eCoupon didn't come off??

eCoupons isn’t necessarily the place that I would like to start when talking about “Back to Basics”.  But, since there are a lot of us using eCoupons this week to get $.34 a box cereal, we will need to go over that.

eCoupons are coupons that load straight to your Shopper’s Value Card- like a Smith’s Card or a Kroger’s Card.

There are also a number of companies that offer eCoupons.  Cellfire, Shortcuts, PGeSaver and usually your store will have their own eCoupons (ie Smiths).

The biggest question I get is “What do I do if my eCoupon didn’t come off?”

There are a few reasons why this may have happened:

1- Sometimes, your phone number is linked to more than one Shopper’s Card.  So, if you give your phone number at checkout, it may scan the wrong card that doesn’t have your eCoupons attached. The best way around this is to DOUBLE CHECK all of your eCoupon accounts and match your actual card number with each one.  Then, at checkout, hand your card to be scanned instead.  That is the biggest mistake I see people make.  And then they are confused why eCoupons aren’t working for them.

2- Sometimes, the eCoupons just don’t come off.  In those instances, you will want to contact whatever company had the problem.  So if your Cellfire eCoupon did not come off, email or call up Cellfire and have your receipt ready.  They will usually end up putting cash back onto your shopper’s card.  Then, the next time you go shopping, the money amount will come right off.  All eCoupon companies are usually pretty good about fixing eCoupon mistakes, because they happen- even though they can be annoying.

3- Another idea:  If you don’t have a lot of groceries, you may want to scan your own groceries at the Self-Checkout.  I would recommend doing this when the store is slow so the person running the self-checkout can scan your coupons.  Why would you want to do this?  After you are done scanning your items, have the self-checkout manager scan your coupons, you will hit the Done key on your checkout screen.  At that time, you will be able to see all of your eCoupons coming off.  You can make sure your eCoupons came off before you actually pay.

Hopefully that will give you guys a little help if you are going to do the Cereal Scenarios I posted about.

Good Luck!!

  1. I noticed when I logged into the Smith's website in my profile my phone number was not accurately attached to my card number. That may help when using the phone number if you leave your card at home. (I haven't tried it so its really just a thought 🙂

  2. I have eCoupons from several websites: Smith's, Cellfire, Shortcuts, and P&GeSaver. I have 2 coupons for one particular product selected at each site, for a total of about 6 ecoupons for that one product. If I buy 6 of that product, should all 6 ecoupons come off? I've had a problem with this.

  4. Yesterday I went to Smiths to get the schick razor. I had a coupon and a ecoupon they both came off when I got rang up, But I also bought a tide stain relaease. I had a coupon and a ecoupon, only the coupon came off, the ecoupon did not. So I went to the customer service and told them and she told me you can only use one coupon because that would be double coupons…?? I was thinking to myself well the razor one worked, and just returned the tide…

  6. Clazylady:If you have your Fresh Values card from Smith's, get it out now. You will need the number on the back to register for the websites that Melea is talking about. Next, go to the links that she's listed and register for their coupons. Cellfire will have you choose which store you go to like Smith's. Smith's website is nice once you've registered because then you can play their instant win games and receive their weekly ad via email. Once you're all registered, then you just scroll through their coupons and click on the "add to my card" buttons and you're all set to go!

  7. Rebecca-Not sure if I understand your question. But you can have one manufacturer's coupon (printed or from the paper) and one eCoupon for EACH item. They SHOULD all come off. If not, then contact the companies like I said in the post.
