Update: Many readers have commented saying that Dollar General stores doesn’t carry boxes of diapers.. just the Jumbo Packs. And because of this Walmart will not Price Match this deal. So you might not have much luck with this possible deal.
Ok everyone.. crazy deal alert here for all of you who have kids in diapers! This week, Dollar General advertised “All Counts and Sizes” of Pampers Diapers are only $9.50!!! Guys, do you know what that means?? That means you could potentially Price Match their ad at Walmart and get a HUGE 200 and something pack of diapers for only $9.50!
So this is going to be an interesting deal. But I think it is worth a try. Some Walmart stores will honor the Price Match and you may run into managers who won’t honor the Price Match. However, the Corporate Price Matching policy from Walmart actually says they will Price Match “Competitor’s Ads for a Specific Item for a Specific Price”. The only argument you could get is that the ad isn’t specific enough.. but saying ANY Size and ANY Count sounds pretty specific to me. So take in a copy of the Price Matching Policy if you need it.
Another tip?? Although this Price Match is following the rules, you might find stores stop accepting them later in the day or later in the week–depending on how many people are doing it. So I would go earlier vs. later to try to snag this deal!

Would you recommend going straight to customer service for this? Or just try to do it at the register? Also, do you think they could limit this? I would love to buy as many boxes as possible! It’s worth a shot.

I went to customer service at the Walmart near me and they said they wouldn’t price match because the sizes that dollar General sell are smaller.

Our walmart actually got an email from corporate saying they won’t honor this because it’s mistake from dollar general. He pulled up the printed email and showed me. So beware

I have been to multiple walmarts today. All have a heads up and will not price match. They state it’s because dollar General does not carry anything larger then jumbo size and walmart price is cheaper on those.The last one told me we can call and complain but corporate will back them up and also showed me the email. I also went to Target who told me if I had the physical ad from the store they would allow the price match. That is not an ad I got in my paper so I was not able to do it.

I’ve read a lot online about this. It seems you may have been more apt to score this deal on the 29th when it first posted, but by now WalMart has been notified and isn’t honoring it anymore (or is not supposed to). I am still trying to decide whether it would be worth trying! Maybe there’s an unknowing cashier out there that would match my printed-out ads! 😉 Anyone else in Utah tried and succeeded?

Since this has been circulating I’ve decided not to promote it because I am thinking it will do more damage then good when it comes to price matching at Walmart. It’s known that Dollar General’s wording was wrong in their ad and that most Dollar Generals do not carry the boxes in store so knowing that, people really shouldn’t price match this deal. It could just making price matching in the future a lot worse. That is just my opinion but thought I’d throw it out there.

I agree. If they don’t carry that size and it isn’t possible to get this deal AT Dollar General, then it isn’t really price MATCHING and seems dishonest to try and get this deal at Walmart.

I agree as well. You should only price match something that the store you are price matching actually carries. I would feel dishonest trying to price match when I knew they didn’t carry the product I was price matching. Dollar General said their diapers were $9.50 for any size and if you were to go to their store, you would be able to buy any size of the diapers they carry for that price. I save a lot of money price-matching at Walmart and very rarely do I run into problems. I have a lot of issues with Walmart in general, but I appreciate that they do price-matching. If people are really upset about not getting the deal, why not just go to Dollar General and get the deal there?

I was SUPER excited about this deal, and now I feel like I need to check myself into a price matchers rejection support group! Sigh! I just got back from Wal-Mart, they said that they will only price match the actual diapers that Dollar General carries in their store. I was told it was size 4 and 6, however, they said that they’ll honor the Luvs price match. I’m so sad. I’m 33 weeks pregnant with my first child and was really hoping to stock up! I also called my local Targets (South Jordan and West Jordan) and they said that they will only price match stores that are within a 5 mile radius.
SOOOOO… if any of you find a store that WILL price match will you PLEASSSSEEEE let me know where you found a store that will honor this deal?

The Jordan Landing Wal-Mart said that they’d honor all the Luv’s. So you should be good. I had two managers tell me that, but with all this craziness, I’d call ahead just to be safe.

All the walmarts will not be honoring the loves or pampers deal from dollar general. This is coming from corporate WalMart down to a family member of mine who works for WalMart.

Tried this. Walmart received an email about the misprint and is not honoring this price for anything but the small packages. They showed me the printed email and told me that because Dollar General doesn’t sell the larger size boxes they will not price match for a size the original store doesn’t sell.

I work at Walmart in Clinton and we can’t price match this deal on the boxes because Dollar General doesn’t carry the boxes in their store. It’s not MATCHING the price if it’s not something that can’t be bought AT the store the ad is from.
I saw the ad and the Luvs says it’s for the Jumbo package and it excludes boxes.
So I’m sure that you could price match the Jumbo package of Luvs for $6.50. The Jumbo package at Walmart is regularly $6.97 so you do save a little bit on that.

I went to Walmart last night and was told that they do not price match with Dollar General. I asked the Manager to show me where it says that in the Price Match policy that I had printed and taken along with me. After looking at the piece of paper for about 5 minutes, he told me that he didn’t see that written either. He would only honor one box (I had 2 in my cart). Long story short, I was very pleased to get 138 diapers for $9.50…. THANKS FREEBIES!!!

Walmart has the right to limit the number of items, depending on what it is. Dollar general does not carry the big boxes of diapers, and people are going in and getting a box of diapers that are 37.98, for only 9.50, you really think walmart wants to loose that much money? They are going to deny any price match that seems very unrealistic. Walmarts where im from has denied every single person thats even tried. Yes, walmart price matchs any printed local ad for the same identical item, although they do have a disclaimer somewhere stating each walmart has the right to limit or deny any price match with valid reason Which sucks.

Jumbo packs are the packaged diapers – not boxes. All counts and sizes refers to the fact that a Jumbo pack of size one might have 50, while a jumbo pack of size six has, say, 25.
