I mentioned this awhile ago when this first released, but it was only available for testing in a few select cities.  It looks like they have finally released this Nationwide!  So now you can save even more money when you shop at Walmart.  It’s called the Walmart Savings Catcher. Here’s How:

  1. As soon as you get home from shopping at Walmart, enter in your receipt number and date printed on your receipt.
  2. Walmart’s 3rd party service will actually scan other advertised weekly ads from competitors.
  3. If Savings Catcher finds a lower advertised price, Walmart will give you the difference back in a Walmart Rewards eGift Card!

Details to Note:

  • You can submit up to 7 receipts per week, per account.
  • Savings Catcher only applies to in-store purchases.
  • Right now, Savings Catcher only applies to most grocery items (excluding store brand items, deli, bakery and weighed items like meat), Consumable items like Paper Towels, Health and Beauty Items and select General Merchandise.
  • You will know within 72 hours if any items on your receipt were found lower elsewhere and if Walmart owes you a credit.
  • You can’t earn more than $599.99 in Walmart Rewards eGift Cards in a calendar year.

As you can see, the program is still new and I am sure they will be tweaking it a bit.  But if you aren’t sure you got the best price at Walmart, you will want to make it a habit to always submit your receipt so they can possibly catch a lower price in your behalf.

(Thanks Haylee!)

  3. I don’t know if the program started on the 24th, or if it will only let you enter receipts within a 7 day period, but it’s currently only allowing you to submit receipts dated from the 24th to the 30th.

    • It will only let you submit receipts from 7 days past because it has to compare them to the other weekly ads. So you won’t ever be able to submit your receipt if it is more than 7 days old.

  6. I know a lot of people speak poorly about Walmart, but it’s these types of things that keep me loving Walmart. They may not have the best customer service there, but they sure do all they can to keep us saving money. Thanks for posting this Melea!

  8. Can you price match and do this? Seems like you would only get one or the other, but it could save you from needing to price match! Is that how it works?

  9. This is a joke. All Walmart will do is overcharge people and then know that they will give an e gift card for a small amount. It is a ploy to get you back in and still shop there and spend even more than what you saved. It is not for your convenience it is to increase their revenue. The cut off of $599.99 is because any more than that and you have to include the amount as income on your federal taxes.

  11. I would rather use a price match list service like http://www.pricematcherz.com and price match at the store and then submit my receipt to see if they find any other deals so I am still shopping from the sales and not just hoping that my groceries are on sale. I would much rather save money from the beginning and know that I will get the savings.

  12. I would have to agree with Jeff, that when the Savings Catcher was first introduced many months ago, there was no talk about how much you could have up to, it’s just recent that they added that $599.99, which is total ridiculousness. I even called the hotline to find out why the REDEEM NOW button wasn’t highlighted anymore, even they couldn’t tell me about the limit on the account. After several emails of “Please send us the TC number and date that you are referring to” emails, I just got mad. How can you offer something like this, and I mean Price Matching and give the difference to you in an ecard, but you can only have up to $599.99 while the rest of the country can earn their money back one you reached a limit? Only reason why I find this very insulting is that I spend at least $180,000 a year at Walmart Grocery and why should I be excluded from the savings if they are just going to pay people out anyway? As a customer, the lack of any serious involvement from ARKANSAS hotline to Savings Catcher or email, I find that this is something they seriously need to look at. If they can’t give you the difference after the sale, then maybe it’s time to have their computer systems update nightly or weekly or however it can be done, and give you the savings that’s advertised instantly and foregoing the e-card to be redeemed. That way there, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Walmart has the lowest prices, end of story. Walmart, if you can invest time and money into a program like this, it should be available to anyone at anytime anywhere there is a store and there should be no limits put on how much you save. At the registers, then and there, you wouldn’t have to consider any kind of tax forms to send out, it would be all internal. Not to mention, when you do reach your limit, like I have, and no one can give a straight answer and have to do your own reading on the now, NEW website, that there is limits, it’s a big o’l kick in the teeth, because now….I feel unappreciated especially since I was there at the beginning of the program way back a few months and just now finding out there are limits, feel me?

  13. I just used savingscatcher for the first time. I’m a faithful price-matcher, but didn’t take the time on my last trip because I was just grabbing a few items. I entered the receipt anyway and savingscatcher found a few dollars. It was like free money to me! Due to the $599 limit, I’ll continue to price match, but as a back up, I’ll enter my receipts in savingscatcher.
