Ok guys, you will want to hurry on this one! Depending on where you live, Gofobo has a bunch of Open Movie Screenings. That means, that you don’t need a special invite or access code to reserve your spot for the Free Movie!
- Just head over to Gofobo and click on the Screenings Tab at the top of their website.
- On the left hand side, enter in your zipcode and click search.
- Depending on where you live, a bunch of Free Movie Screenings will pop up. For me, “Here Comes the Boom”, “Hotel Transylvannia” and a few others popped up.
- Just RSVP for the movie you want to see!
If you get a Free Movie Pass, I would still recommend showing up early for your showing. They will usually oversell the passes to make sure that the theater is full for the screening.
*** Not everyone will have access to the Open Screenings. Your showings might say “Private”. So cross your fingers and see if there is anything for your area right now.

Thanks Melea! This is awesome! How early do you think we should show up? Do we just take our passes to the ticket counter?
Sarah
I think how early you should go probably depends on the movie (how popular it is) and the location (if a lot of people know about it and participate). I went to my first free movie screening a couple weeks ago and the theater was not anywhere close to being filled. I was only 30 minutes early and was fine — I honestly probably could have gotten there only 5 minutes early. I’m not sure if it was because of my location or because of the movie, though. I’ll be going to a few more this week, so hopefully I can get a feel for it. To be safe, I would recommend going an hour early. At the least I would recommend going 30 minutes early.
As for the tickets, just take them to the ticket counter and they’ll print “real tickets” for you and direct you to the theater (at least, that’s what happened to me). If all else, if you go to the ticket counter, they should know what to do.
Have fun!

Most movies fill up pretty fast. They WILL NOT let you in if you are late so make sure you’re not. Most movie theatres have a time that they START giving out tickets. You can call the theatre and find out what time they begin to give out tickets. Go get your tickets then and if it’s reserved seating you will just need to be there before it starts. (sometimes there is a line when they start giving out the tickets, last time we went the movie was at 7:00, they started giving away tickets at 4:00. We got there at 3:45 and the line had started, but was not super long yet. They ran out of tickets in the end…but we got some because we were then early!)

If there’s a movie you want to see that’s listed as a “Private Screening,” keep checking the site, because it might become an “Open Screening” closer to the screening date! That just happened to me a few days ago, so I’m glad I went back and checked. Good luck!

Just got tickets for tomorrow to see “Here Comes the Boom”! I’m excited!

We tried going to “The Words” a few weeks ago and it was full so we denied access. They do oversell them so be there early! (we arrived right on time…not good enough). Do you think they’ll open more tix for Hotel Trans. ? I didn’t get the personal invite to this film, only to “here comes the boom”…all the passes have been taken for that RSVP code for “Hotel Trans..” darn it.

We went to this screening as well and showed up 30 minutes early, but they said all the tickets had been given out at 4:00 that day (3 hours early). Definitely call your theater ahead of time to check when they start giving them out.
