I am scared to try using coupons on travel sized items. I hear so many stories of cashiers and managers making the couponer feel bad for doing that. My face turns red so easily and then it makes me all nervous. :-/

The American Fork CS Mgr told me on double coupon night that technically we are not supposed to use the Tide coupon for the travel size items, that the manufacturers gets really upset when we do that because they really want you to purchase one of the items in the picture (full size). So I just said, well there is no size restriction on the coupon so to me that literally means “any” product. So she said yes, and we still have to honor it and she did. I said it in a nice tone, but I stood up for my coupon – the worse she could say is NO and then I would have taken my coupon elsewhere.

I found the Robitussin to Go in my store by the check out stand. I spent forever looking in the pharmacy area and got so frustrated because I could never find it. It was on a shelf by all of the little items, in the Tobacco check out lane. Hope that helps!

@ Tiffany there where two diff. coupons. I printed my first Nestle Cocoa coupon and it was for (ANY), not realizing it would change, I came back later to print my second coupon and it printed as the canister.

Has anyone else had a problem with the cashiers and supervisors when trying to use the tide coupon? I attempted to buy some and the employees at Walmart were extremely combative about using the coupon for the trial size. They kept saying this item is only .97 cents and you can’t use a coupon for 2.00 dollars. I even showed her their coupon policy that clearly states they apply overage to your basket and she refused to give me any overage. I ended up not buying anything because it was such an ordeal. I then decided to call the Store Manager and ask why they would not honor their own coupon policy. She agreed with me that the cashier and supervisor were wrong and she would train them better, but I am still dissatisfied with how that went down, what a nightmare at the register.

I just wanted to let anyone know who may have a had an issue with the tide coupon, like I did, I went back to Walmart and asked to speak with a store manager. I told her what happened to me while attempting to check out yesterday and she was very nice and helpful. She walked with with me to grab my tide travel sizes and a couple other items to cover my overage and then personally rang my items through the register. Ha! A little persistence pays off. I almost decided to say screw it on trying to use those tide coupons but I am glad I talked to manager that cared about my experience as a customer. If anyone else has had a bad experience I suggest asking to speak with a a store manager NOT A SUPERVISOR!!!

I have had several problems with not just trial size coupons but coupons in general. I actually finally decided to contact corporate on this issue, and guess what? The General Manager called me and told me he was so sorry for my bad experiences and is willing to work with me to make sure I have a good experience from now on, I also have a family member who is a CSM at Walmart and he said basically if you get a cashier that refuses that and doesn’t abide by the coupon policy then tell them you will take it up with the general manager again (mention their name) and write that cashier’s name down, they usually will be extra nice to you after because they can actually get in trouble, i’ve been told they are supposed to “put the customer first” so I am going to try doing this from now on and see how it goes!

I tried using the Tide coupon at my Walmart and they told me they wouldn’t accept it. They got a new CSM and he/she told them they were not available on the trial size ones. I told them it doesn’t state they are excluded on the coupon but she said no. ðŸ™

I think we need to reach media people about this. It’s ridiculous and not fair driving to their store, and than treat you like a thief when you give them your coupons. I had an experience with publix here in Newnan. I have my kids with me and don’t want to argue when she said I can’t use the competitors coupon. So I said , thats fine. i don’t want it than .Which to find out from my friend who works there that they have a poster that they do accept competitors coupon. She caught me off guard not bringing any store policy with me. Now I stand on what the coupon states.

I just had a similar experience with the Tide coupon. I brought for of the travel size detergents to the register along with a few other items. My total came to approximately $8.32 before the coupons. I was excited to pay only 32 cents for my purchase. The coupons wouldn’t scan so the csm that just happened to be right there took a look at the coupon and informed me that they could not accept them. Even though there was no size restriction the lady told me that they were really cracking down on coupons and that they couldn’t override the system if the coupon doesn’t scan. So I had them take the items off my purchase and give the coupons back to me. After reading about the other experiences here I think I might have to have another go at it.

The problem with the tide coupon and using it on the travel size is actually it is put out by another company other than tide itself. So all stores actually don’t have to take the coupon, but most will to make a happy customer which equals repeat business.
