Get your Newspaper Orders In! Important CIC Info!

If you don’t currently get a Sunday only subscription to the newspaper in your area, seriously consider getting one.  It has been the only reason I have been able to get any of the deals I talk about on the website- AND how I built our food storage so quickly.

It can be hard to justify the cost of a newspaper subscription when you are living paycheck to paycheck… believe me, I was there once.  But after about a month or so, I realized that I was actually saving more each month than the actual cost of my subscription!

Call up your local paper and ask for a Sunday only or Weekend rate.  If you live in Utah, I have a list of the BEST Subscription Deals for you here.

IMPORTANT:  The CIC is actually cracking down on the illegal use and selling of coupons- which is illegal too.  And that means that we will probably see the opportunity to purchase coupons on eBay and through Coupon Clipping Services disappear.  Once that happens, newspaper prices are bound to go up!  So, it’s best to get in before that happens!  It will be the only way to get your coupons.

  1. I get 2 copies of both the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret News. Do you have any suggestions for the best deal for the papers that get Red Plum? I miss out on a lot of the fun deals because these 2 papers don’t get it, and I live in Utah County which doesn’t deliver it by mail. I would LOVE some Red Plum inserts!

    • If you live in Utah county you can get the daily herald which has the red plum insert in it

  2. Will this include the clipping service you promote?

    • Hey Kami, The two coupon clipping services I tried out would probably be a part of the ban. It’s a huge controversy. They claim to only make you pay for the actual service of clipping… and that you aren’t purchasing the actual coupon as those are free. So it will be interesting to see what happens.

  3. Does anyone know if there’s a paper in Utah that still gets the Redplum insert that will deliver to the Logan area?

  4. Are there any sites where you can trade or donate coupons? I always end up with a ton of extra ones that seem like they’d be good for someone even though I’m not going to use them.

  5. if you have a subscription now and when it runs out do you pay the rate then or do they let you extend it at the rate you got it at initially?

    • If it runs out, they will usually charge you a lot more. So, try to renew it a month or two before it expires… and they will usually give you a better rate!

  6. I recieved a call from the Ogden Standard (Utah) this morning….they are offering 24 weeks of daily papers for $20 or Sunday only for $10.

I didn’t think to ask if I could get more than 1 copy; however I couldn’t get it for longer than 24 weeks.
