Update: So far Meridian, Idaho, Layton Utah, and Orem Utah are participating. They are all franchises. So hopefully there are more on board than just those three!
Check with your local Krispy Kreme store. Many locations are participating in their annual Ugly Tie promotion. Just bring in an old ugly tie before Father’s Day, and they will give you a free 12 count box of original glazed donuts!
**I know for sure that the Orem, Utah store is doing it. If you know of others, leave a comment and help everyone out.

Corporate says this is true, but only select locations and they don’t have info on which ones participate. If it is franchise, don’t count on it. The Ontario, CA., location doesn’t seem to be participating in it, but there was no manager there to confirm. I just got the employee stating “Huh?”.

I called Corporate also they confirmed that only certain locations – The Orange, CA location said that they are not participating but would definitely check into it for next year!

Yes! I confirmed it tonight! Took in and ugly tie and got a free dozen donuts! I went to the one on South Eastern (at Silverado Ranch). Woohoo! Thanks for the tip!

I did this a couple of years ago and I did get a dozen donuts per tie (each person who went in was able to bring in a tie and get the box of donuts). And they did keep the tie when I went.

I did this last year (a few times!!). They ask you to fill out a form with your name and phone number. The ugliest tie wins donuts for a year. They hang the ties from the ceiling for everyone to see. The Orem location was great last year. They are more than happy to give you free donuts. I expected them to treat me like someone who just wanted free donuts, but they smile and thank you for coming in. Definately a good experience.

Orem, UT. Just went out with the kids and friends and got 5 dozen! Yes, they keep the tie. In the Orem store, they are doing a contest for the ugliest tie. If your tie wins, you get free doughnuts for a year!
