Are you getting married soon? Have you found your wedding dress yet? Are you absolutely shocked by the cost of wedding dresses? I’ve been married for a LONG time, but my husband and I are planning to renew our wedding vows and I’ve been looking at dresses. WOW they are expensive. I will say that I was shocked.

Here’s the thing though, I paid nothing for my original wedding dress. I am probably a little behind the times here, but additionally, my husband and I literally paid a total of $180 for our wedding so I’m definitely not the extravagant wedding expert here. I was given a beautiful dress by a friend of mine and we got married in a local park. It was lovely and very inexpensive.

How to Save Money on Your Wedding Dress

Despite my original wedding dress being free, I am planning to buy a dress this time and I’ve been doing some research and searching to see how to find the best deals.

Clearance

I was at David’s Bridal recently and oh my gosh I found some amazing deals on wedding dresses in the clearance section. I don’t have a super specific dress in mind so I’m able to be open minded about the dresses I find. I found dresses on the clearance rack for as low as $79!! I tend to like dresses that are a little more simple in style though, so that probably helps.

Thrift Shops

Many thrift shops have sections dedicated to wedding dresses! Most of these dresses are in good shape, many of them are even brand new! I’m not a superstitious person and I love wearing thrifted clothes anyway so I have no reason not to go this route for a wedding gown.

Marketplace

FB Marketplace is a wonderful place to find great deals on wedding dresses! I have found that many of the dresses you’ll find here are brand new. Oftentimes people will buy a dress and then change their mind once their wedding gets closer, buying another one and rather than go through the return they put them up for sale on marketplace. My sister in law got married last year and did exactly this!

Wish/Shein/Amazon

Wish, Shein and Amazon are all great places to find seriously good deals on wedding dresses! I spotted some for $40! When you think about it, you are going to wear this dress one time for a few hours, I don’t think it’s necessary to spend a lot on a dress that will only be worn for a short time. I have a friend who ordered 2 dresses off of Wish and swapped dresses during her wedding day. She loved them and her pictures looked incredible!
