Since I don’t post on Saturdays or Sundays, you guys get 3 great Clearance Shopping Tips Today!  Don’t forget to share your own clearance shopping tips in the comments below to gain another entry into out Target Gift Card Giveaway. 30 people will win. And winners are announced on FRIDAY!!

Clearance Shopping Tip #10:

Use store employees to your benefit.  Be nice and ask them for any information or help regarding clearance.  If they don’t know when they next clearance markdown will happen, they can usually get you to the person who does.  They may know where other clearance items are hiding and give you more “insider” tips.

Clearance Shopping Tip #11:

I know on an earlier tip, I told you not to buy it if you don’t need it.  On the flip side of that, my next tip is to THINK AHEAD.  If you can think to upcoming Holidays, Birthdays, Parties….. you might be able to find clearance items that will work as presents, party favors, decorations and more. For example, a lot of the Christmas Candy is Red.  You could easily reuse it for Valentine’s Day!

Clearance Shopping Tip #12:

My next tip is to watch the online clearance sales!  Not only can you find crazy prizes but a lot of stores will have Free Shipping Days too.  (Like Carter’s and Osh Kosh today)  So you can grab clearance, use any coupon code or discount on top of that price to save even more and have it shipped free!  You get that awesome rush of clearance shopping and don’t have to leave your home.

  2. The clearance at Micheals is awesome! They routinely have journals, lots of monogrammed items, magnetic lists, mirrors, cute pens, ear buds, cute containers, bath stuff and lots of great birthday stuff, especially for girls! I always stock up on cute little items to put in gift baskets or give as gifts for birthdays, Christmas and graduations.

  4. Went to CVS last week and a nice employee told me that they put there clearance prices starting Tuesdays. Start with 25%, the next week 50% and following 75%. She was so nice to give me that info. So awesome.

  5. I love finding toy clearance because I always shop ahead – for nieces/nephews birthdays/Christmas and for my own kids for their birthdays/Christmas. I love finding toys that I think they’ll like and just putting them in my storage cabinet until I need them!

  6. If the item or items are soooo important I don’t wait for 75% or 90% off because I’m sure they’ll be gone in a couple of minutes just like what happened to the 50% off cadbury cookies at Walmart last December 26. So, if the item is really good, 50% is already a good deal. Because if you’re going to wait , you’ll miss all beautiful and good things.

  7. My sister just got married last week and I was in charge of the whole thing. I knew that I may be able to score some Christmas clearance things that I could use if I just waited for the right time to buy. It worked!! I got a ton of ivory colored pillar candles that were 75% off because they were for Christmas, when the same candles were full price a few aisles over in the candle isle because they weren’t for Christmas. It was great! So thinking outside the box is the best thing we can do!

  8. Always always always! Double check the price on a clearance item in store. It may have gone down but just not have been marked yet. 🙂 And always see if you have a coupon to combine and make that deal even better.

  9. Some holiday clearance items don’t have to be restricted to a certain month. I buy red and green cupcake liners from Christmas and use them for Valentine’s day and St. Patrick’s Day, respectively. You can be creative when you shop and look for different ways you could use an item and still save money. Isn’t necessity the mother of invention? 🙂

  10. At Target sometimes the clearance is hidden on end caps on the opposite side of the aisles…you can always find nice hidden gems there:)

  11. When buying clearance items after a holiday or season, your mind may still be on that holiday or season. But take a moment to look at the item and think if it would be appropriate for another time of the year. For example after Valentines Day red items or items with hearts on them may be appropriate for a wedding or bridal shower.

  12. I buy my kids coats at winter clearance sales for the following winter. I have gotten some of them for 3 dollars (especially toddler size). I really love having their coats ready and for about75 percent off. We are ready for cold weather next fall.
