Each year, retailers have something called National Free Shipping Day! Well, that day is here. However, it’s not as grand as it has been in past years. And a lot of stores have already had their standard shipping cutoff date.
If you have a store that you need to grab items from, you can check their website online to see if they are offering FREE Shipping with No Minimum Purchase. (Stores like American Eagle, REI and Cabela’s are participating.)
Unless you have a specific item that only one store carries, your best bet may still be Amazon, Target or Walmart. They all have free shipping options, or free in-store pickup options.
As a reminder, make sure you check the delivery date and give yourself an extra padding day to make sure you get your order in time. I know a lot of readers have had issues with 2-day shipping not showing up in 2 days.

When a site advertises “2-day shipping,” that generally means that once they get your package out the door and in the FedEx/UPS/USPS system, then the 2-day count begins. It may take the company a day or two, or even more, to get your package READY to ship. And you shouldn’t wait until the last minute, or you might experience delivery delays due to weather (of which we had plenty last winter!).
