How to Get Amazon to Price Match! You Will Want to Know How to Do This for Black Friday!

I wish Amazon had a price matching policy.  But officially they don’t.  However, they do change their prices all day long to either match or beat other retailer’s prices.  So if someone else drops their price, more than likely Amazon will too!  It’s really nice when that happens.  Amazon employees spend their time changing prices throughout the day… you will see them go up and down depending on how many people are purchasing a particular item.

But, did you know that you can actually report a lower price elsewhere so Amazon knows?  That is about the closest thing to an actual price matching policy.  But, it definitely helps!

How to Report a Lower Price on Amazon:

For example, Target has the DC24 Dyson Upright Ball Vacuum for $259.99.  Amazon has it for around $360.

  1. I am going to go to Amazon’s page for the DC24 Dyson Vacuum to report a lower price.
  2. In the “Product Details Section”, you will see a sentence that reads “Did we miss any relevant features for this product? Tell us what we missed. Would you like to update product infogive feedback on images, or tell us about a lower price?”  I have pictured what it looks like below.Screen Shot 2013-11-27 at 9.14.43 AM
  3. Click on the “Tell us about a lower price” link.
  4. Then, you can choose in-store or online.  If you choose online, you can then enter in the URL of where that price is cheaper (Target at this link for this example), add the price, shipping cost and the date you saw it.

Amazon won’t be able to change every price that is reported lower somewhere else.  But, they won’t know it is cheaper unless you submit a lower price. Just watch the Amazon page during the day to see if the price drops!!  Most times it does.

**This is really important to know when the Black Friday Deals start.  Then, Amazon can start matching all of the prices, or beating them.  And you won’t have to go in-store to get the deals.  :)

  7. This worked for me the other day on The 50″ Vizio LED TV that Best Buy had on pre-Black Friday sale. I reported the price to Amazon and a few hours later, they changed their price to match. Just keep checking back if you do report a price to them!

  12. do you have to wait for them to be on sale or could i send a copy of best buys ad for the kindle for $99 that’s in their black friday ad…or do i have to wait for it to go on sale at best buy first?

    • I would just go online, and find the same item on Amazon, and then use the price match button to let them know ahead of time that you want it… I wouldn’t wait for Black Friday before doing it. You will have to copy and paste the link for best buy that shows it for that price though. But give them the heads up now, and keep watching to see if they drop the price. 🙂

  65. Cool, thanks! Didn’t know I could do this. Last year I bought a book from Amazon and later found a better (hardback with art) one that would’ve been way cheaper. I tried to return the one I just bought and let them know the reason and they wrote back and told me just to keep the book and they would refund the money! Great company with great customer service!

  74. Kid you not this worked within MINUTES!!!
There was a bible I wanted to buy. It was 9.99 + 3.99 shipping on one website and it was 19.97 (or something super close) on amazon. I did what you said and then added the bible to my cart. Came back to check the cart about 10 minutes later a a I had an important message. Clicked it and it said the bible in my cart price had dropped. To exactly what the other one was. Now I paid from the safety of my amazon account. Woo hoo! Going to do this all the time now 🙂

  75. If it isn’t eligble for Amazon prime and is supplied throught some other source…can the price still be changed? How likely is it to be changed then?

    Reply
  76. Will this still work if the item I am telling them is cheaper is already sold out?

  77. Did they do away with this function? I can’t find it where it used to be and had a couple that I wanted to report…

    • I’ve noticed it isn’t on every product page. And it definitely doesn’t show up on the mobile version. So you will need to be on your computer in order to see that link.
