We spend most of the year grabbing deals for our families, saving on our grocery bills, and getting all of our Christmas presents for cheap. Now that Christmas is over, and our presents have been given, I think it is time for all of us to take a little break!!
More than likely your kids are off of school and you might even have family in town for awhile. I truly believe that this is the time to make memories with your kids and family members. And while there will be a few deals popping up this week, there isn’t going to be anything too crazy that you won’t be able to live without. I know it is easy to get stuck in the mentality that you might miss something if you don’t get online. But now that we have made it past Christmas, it is time to take a vacation!
So, I really urge you all to get offline, spend the week with your kids- play in the snow, do a service project, start your spring cleaning. You could even have your kids donate all their old toys to a shelter- to make room for the new ones you purchased!
I too will be taking a break this week. I have never done this before because there are always emails, deals to post, giveaways to line up, giveaways to mail…. it keeps me busy even when I’m not supposed to be working. And as much as I love doing what I do- family is more important to me and I’m sure it is to all of you as well!
So, let’s all hop offline for the next few days! I will be back online and back to posting deals and freebies early on January 2nd. (The day after the New Year’s Break!) Kids should be back to school and we can get back to our routines and deal hunting!
If you just can’t get away from the deals while I am offline this week, I would highly recommend heading to stores like Target and Walmart and checking out their Christmas Clearance sections. Each store is different. But, most should at least be 30% off starting today! You would be suprised what they mark down. Anything that has Christmas packaging goes on clearance- including things like Paper Plates and Ziploc bags. You can really find some hidden treasures! Plus, remember that you can use coupons on top of any clearance price! YAY!
Quick Tip: Try to find Christmas Candy on clearance that doesn’t have obvious Christmas packaging. You can use it for Valentine’s Day!~
Ok everyone- hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Enjoy your families.. I mean, REALLY enjoy the time you have because all of the crazy clearance deals and promos will start in January!

Melea ~ Hope you had a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your vacation and your family! You deserve it!
I had to laugh!!!! We were in Walmart on the 23rd looking for some extra Christmas candies for the grandkids stockings. All we could find was the Valentines Day candy packs!!!!!! JEEZ….those stores are really in trouble I guess….LOL
Have a GREAT Vacation!!!
Enjoy your vacation! Thank you for all of your hard work!
Thanks! Have a great vacation. Once again my family was astounded at the amount of presents under the tree on Christmas morning thanks to your website and what I have learned from you. Turning what people spend on one gift into 4 gifts is so fun!
Have a great break! In case anyone is interested – Fred Meyer was already at 75% off a lot of their stuff yesterday.
Melea,
Thanks……..for taking the break AND for all you do!!!
hope youre enjoying your holiday break! But GOSH do I ever miss browsing your website all day
I too am torn with your break. Yes, deals may be few & it’s not worth the time or stress but, I miss not checking your sight daily. You continue to spoil us with your love (& gift) of saving money!! However, it is quite crazy especially with the kids out of school. (Mine doesn’t return until January 7th.) I’m not at my computer near as much & am enjoying the break too!
BTW: Thanks for the QUICK TIP: “Christmas Candy on clearance that doesn’t have obvious Christmas packaging. You can use it for Valentine’s Day!”
Wal Mart had their Christmas marked down to 50% off. So, for $1 I bought a candy cane with red & white Hershey’s hugs for my husband. It won’t be much but, nothing says “I Love You” quite like chocolate. Well, that holds true for me but I can’t vouch for my man. *hee*
Here’s a QUICK TIP I just came up with: I bought two candy canes this year & the candy has already been eaten. I’m going to save the empty containers & just refill them with candy I find on clearance.
Happy Christmas & Merry New Year!!
Thank you for ALL you do. Hope you had a beautiful Christmas & New Year’s!!
