Special Newspaper Subscription Prices just for you!

You can definitely get printable coupons online. And I will link you right to them.  But, there is always a print limit of two. And the brands that are using Internet coupons is definitely limited.

So, if you are looking to mazimize your savings, you will want to get a Sunday Subscription to your local paper.  That way, you can get the coupon inserts!  I was skeptical when I first started couponing because I thought, “Why pay to get coupons, in order to use them?”  It just didn’t make sense.  But Amy at Savvy Shopper told me to try it, and I did.  I am so THANKFUL that I did too!

Right now, I pay $21.82 per month for 5 copies of the Sunday paper each week.  I save that much with coupons in one shopping trip.  The price for the newspaper subscription pays for itself the first time or two you use the coupons in them.

Last year, there were over $8,000 worth of coupons in the inserts.  But, you definitely won’t use every single one.   So let’s say that you used only 1/3 of the coupons.  That’s a savings of $2667 a year!  Let’s be even more conservative and say you only use 1/4 of the coupons.  That’s still a savings of $2000 a year!  Every single one of us could use a $2000 savings right??  I easily use 1/4 of all of my coupons.  You will too.

I said that I actually get 5 copies of the Sunday paper.  That way, when the “crazy” deals come, I get 5 products for free instead of just 1.  That is how I personally build my stockpile/food storage.  And after about six months of doing this, you will never have to pay full price again for items like Dishwasher Detergent, Aluminum Foil and other products you use every day.  Last night, I actually ran out of Aluminum Foil.  So I went downstairs to my Food Storage and grabbed one of the 5 Aluminum Foils I had sitting there.  It saved me a trip to the store, saved me about $3.00 for paying full price and it saved about 20 minutes of my time.

You can order any number of papers that will work the best for you.  If you want the biggest amount of savings, I would get the 4 or 5 Sunday Papers a week.  If you just want to test out the waters, try the 1 or 2 Sunday Papers a week.  You can always change your subscription later.

**I must love you guys a lot because I went through a lot of hassling and bargaining to get you these prices.  Newspaper companies don’t usually like to do a Sunday only thing.  Some weren’t very cooperative.  Scroll down to see the deals for your area!  Also, at the very bottom of this post, I mentioned how to get RedPlum inserts mailed to you. So check that out too!

Southern Utah-

UPDATE:  So one of my St. George Readers contacted me and said that you guys can get multiple copies!  Why in the world would they have told me different?  Seriously, these newspaper companies are driving me insane.  So, I will be contacting them again to figure out what the deal is!  Stay patient with me guys!  Thanks!

** I have some bad news for you. The Spectrum will not offer multiple copies of the Sunday Insert! They will only offer one copy. So, I obviously couldn’t get a deal for you. You can definitely call them and get one copy, if you want. I will be working on changing this!! I’ll keep bugging them!

You MAY be able to get a subscription through The Salt Lake Tribune or The Deseret News.  You can check the contact info for them I listed above to see if they do.  But, I’m not sure how that works.  Sorry guys!

FOR EVERYONE OUTSIDE OF UTAH:

I am currently working with a National Company to bring you the absolute best prices in multiple Sunday Subscriptions! YAY! However, it is taking a little longer than expected.  So, hopefully, in a few weeks, I will have that info for you.

Until then, I still want everyone to get the best price on their subscription as soon as possible. There is a great website called Discounted NewspapersGo here and enter in your zipcode.  It will tell you what offers they have for your area.

After talking with Discounted Newspapers, it seems as though they only offer one subscription at a time.  Which is obviously better than nothing right?  They said you could place multiple orders.  Sometimes the newspaper companies will think it is a duplicate order and not send the multiple papers and not charge your card.  But, sometimes, they do send multiple copies.  It could be a great deal, until I can get the National Subscriptions up and running!

RedPlum Info for Everyone:
The only paper in Utah that is still offering the Red Plum inserts is The Daily Herald.  I’m not sure who still has it outside of Utah.

If you want to know if your address can receive them, go to this page.  Enter in your address and it will tell you whether a nearby paper carries it or if you can receive the inserts in the mail.  This page will work for anyone, in ANY state.

If it says you can receive the inserts by mail, go here and fill out the request.  They will start mailing you the Red Plum Inserts! YAY!!  You should get your first mailing in about 5 weeks.

*******I know I have just probably completely overloaded you with information.  I tried my best to make it as organized as possible!

So if I am in the Brigham City area and subscribe to the Herald Journal do they have the same coupon inserts on Sunday as the rest of the newspapers?

Reply

the warrens January 21, 2010 at 9:59 pm

nice job! my question is the same as marcy's. same inserts in each paper or should we order multiple papers-like in weber co? and with that, is there a contact person we speak with at the standard examiner or what route do you reccommend for the discount?

Anonymous January 21, 2010 at 10:09 pm

thanks SO much melea! do these prices work even if i have previously subscribed to the specific newspaper, or is this only for new subscribers?

is there any way to get more that one Red Plum mailed to your address?

Hey thanks for your hard work i just wanted to add a little about the herald journal in Cache county. This deal doesn't start right away when i talked to them they said they are not going to offer it until at least the second week of February and if you are a current subscriber they are not sure if they are going to offer it to them. Which is kinda stupid but oh well anyway thought i would let you know. Thanks again for all the great deals.

Melea January 21, 2010 at 11:15 pm

Marcy-For the most part, they will have the same inserts. If you can get the Deseret News or Salt Lake Tribune where you live, they will have a few extra inserts throughout the year. Also, the only place that gets Red Plum is Utah County. But other than that, you will get the same inserts.Warrens-If you are in weber, I would actually go with The Salt Lake Trib or Deseret. If I remember correctly, it is cheaper to get the paper through them. They do receive a few extra inserts that other papers do not… just because they are the largest paper. If you do decide to go with the Standard Examiner, you can call the regular customer service number. The discount they are giving doesn't need a code word. Just tell them the amount that I quoted on the post. Or, you can get both. It is totally up to you.Anonymous-If you have previously subscribed to a paper, you should still be able to sign up again. If you currently have a subscription right now, they will not allow you to change your rate in the middle. You will have to wait until the end.Anonymous-I am still figuring out if we can get multiple copies of the Red Plum mailed. My guess would be no. But I will try to find out for sure! Anonymous-As far as Cache County goes, I will call them ASAP and see what the problem is. They told me it was ready to go! We shouldn't have to wait until Feb to get that price.Hope that helps everyone! Melea

I am from Utah County and was wondering if it was better to get all five copies of the Sunday paper from the Daily Herald or to split it and get two from the Herald and two from Deseret News.

Melea January 22, 2010 at 12:01 am

Cache County-I just talked with the manager. I guess we miscommunicated. So, we are fixing the numbers right now for the subscription in your area. I will have them up Friday Morning! Thanks for your understanding guys! Working with 6 different newspapers has definitely been a lot of work!

Reply

Melea January 22, 2010 at 12:02 am

Kendal and Alissa-Well, I personally would go with the Daily Herald only. They are the only paper in all of Utah that still gets the Red Plum inserts. So if you go with the Deseret News, you will be missing out on inserts from the Red Plum each week.MElea

This is probably a stupid question, but is there any chance that the daily herald would be delivered in salt lake? Its such a better price, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks

Shelly January 22, 2010 at 1:27 am

I live in Spanish Fork and get the Daily Herald but I get the Spanish Fork version and it's much cheaper. I got it for $46/yr for one Sunday paper (which is the Provo edition) and then I get the Spanish Fork edition Thursday. It was $90 last I checked to get the Provo Sunday and Provo Thursday. So you might want to check to see if they have a local paper you can get. It's worth a try! OH and most Ream's grocery stores carry the Sunday paper ALL week in case you need another one.

melea—wow! thank you for doing all you do! retail therapy just got better, thanks to you!! i live in west jordan so i was wondering what paper would benefit me more…the deseret or the tribune? or do they all have the same inserts? if not would you recommend gettin 2 or 3 more of one (that has the most coupons) then the other? are we able to perscribe to both? again thanks!!

Reply

Melea January 22, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Anonymous-The Daily Herald will only go up to the Point of the Mountain. I know it is cheaper. But, the Deseret News and SLtrib won't go any lower. Stupid, I know.Anonymous-If you live in West Jordan, The Deseret and The Trib are delivered by the same company. You can get up to 2 of each. The inserts are the same. So you could get 4 (2 of each). That is what I would recommend. They won't let you get a subscription for more thatn 4 papers there. So two and two would be perfect!

Emily-I haven't been able to figure out how they decide where they deliver yet. It is so sparatic. However, make sure you get the rest of the coupon inserts! If you aren't getting a paper right now, Im assuming you can get the Logan paper in Smithfield right? I should know this morning what prices they are giving. But, I know for sure that they are offering 5 Sunday papers for $15.20. It is an AWESOME price. It's actually the cheapest in Utah.Melea

I live in St. George and I get 5 additional copies of the Sunday Paper. I had to purchase a weekly subscription to be able to get the extra copies though. I think I pay $18-19 a month for everything. So I don't know what the Spectrum was talking about. We are also still receiving the Red Plum inserts!

I ordered my paper through a Grocery Smarts instructor and she was able to get me 4 copies of the SLT/DMN for $52 for 52 weeks and then she gave me a $24 gift card. That made each paper only .88 and I was locked into this rate. She also offered a 6 month deal likes yours, but she offers a $6 gift card with every paper, so when you order 4 papers you get a $24 gift card and that would make it only $1a week vs. yours which comes out to be $1.03(BTW I think your math might be off. Thanks for all the info!

You are awesome!!My subscription is almost up, so I wondered if I could call them and get my rates adjusted to what you have quoted here?? I too signed up through grocery smarts and my rates have gone up. :( Do you know if it is possible to renew and this new rate? I don't want to mess with them until I asked you about it. But, that is the only way they will do it. I would hate to have you not have coupon inserts for 6 weeks. That is a long time. You are more than welcome to contact Debbie or Ben and see… but Im pretty sure that is the policy.Melea

Sarah designed a birthday cake for my son, Marc (7), as a football field with the Utes vs BYU with graham teddy bears & pretzel rod goal posts…it was so cute & fun. Thank you so much for the info! I bought my last set of papers from Wal-mart today (5 papers for $1.00 each) and subscribed to the Standard Examiner after getting home. Customer Service told me that they don't do Sunday ONLY papers… you get 5 Sunday papers and a daily paper for the $19.99. You don't have to sign up for EZ-Pay when you subscribe (which is an extra $12.50). Just to let readers know who wanted to do the SE but didn't want to pay extra!

Hello-You probably already know this, but I live in St. George, Utah, and get the Spectrum newspaper. You can't get the Sunday paper exclusively, but if you have a daily subscription, you can add additional Sunday papers (up to 5 additional), at only $0.50 a piece. My total bill for the month to receive the newspaper daily, and six copies on Sunday is generally under $25.

I am brand new to coupon using. I love your website. I hav already bought a new shower caddy from Khols on Ebates. I have already planned my dinner meals for the entire year but my family is not as receptive to the recipes as I would have hoped so the leftovers sit and go bad. I am trying to plan meals around Ads from stores. I will see if my husband will let me try the couponing and get a newspaper subsription for 6 months. After that time, I should know if couponing REALLY works and if it's worth the hassle of cutting or if it just not for me. Thanks for all you do to get us all great deals. I appreciate you!Marie S.

I'm about to order a subscription to the Deseret News, but I'm just wondering why I would want to order more than one? The grocery store never lets me use more than one coupon per item. Unless you're saying for example, 5 Ragu coupons for 5 jars of Ragu. Please explain :)

Reply

Melea May 19, 2010 at 9:26 pm

Nic-When you can get a completely Free item with a coupon, or pretty close to free, that is when you will want to stock up on the item. Use one for then and store the rest away for later. That way, when you run out of the item, you won't be paying full price for it. You can just grab one of the items you already got such a great deal on. Since I get 5 copies of the paper, I am able to stock up on a Free item 5 times. That way, I can build up my stockpile!

Who do I contact at the Daily Herald regarding my inserts- I get 5 papers each Sunday and for the last 3 weeks at least 1 of them is missing. This past weekend of 5 papers, I only got 2 sets of coupons & 1 parade magazine. I'm getting annoyed that I'm paying for my coupons but not getting them. Help!
